We were on the lookout for the best recipe apps on Google Play. We found Dinner Spinner and Recipe Search to be the best apps for recipes. They are so good in fact that you can probably just throw away all the recipe books you have stashed in your kitchen. Anything that needs cooking, these recipe apps will do the trick to help create amazing meals with the use of your smartphone.
Dinner SpinnerĀ
Dinner Spinner was created by the giant we all know and love around the internet, AllRecipes. Each recipe is put into a category which goes all the way from Italian recipes to vegetarian recipes. Dinner Spinner allows you to find all the recipes that are the website directly on your smartphone.
To start, you must chose what you are going to attempt to cook. Are you cooking a side dish, a main dish, salad, or a desert? You will have the option to add ingredients and pick the time that you have to cook the meal.
To get the test started, we chose main dish and decided that the main ingredient we will use is pork and had 45 minutes to cook the meal. The app then goes through recipes and recommends some that you can cook in that time with the ingredients that you have on hand. The recipe that has the best rating is always listed first.
If you are unsure of what you want to make, shaking your smartphone will have the app recommend a random meal with ingredients and time required included.
If you did not know this, Dinner Spinner was listed as a top 50 app in 2012 by Time Magazine.
Recipe Search
Just like Dinner Spinner, Recipe Search is an app that was created by one of the biggest recipe sites online, AllTheCooks. All recipes from this website are available on the app just like Dinner Spinner. Remember how we selected Recipe Search in our article about the top 7 apps you must have? Well, that’s because it is simply the best. When you open this app from your smartphone, you will see the top recipes of that day with pictures included. When you swipe your finger to the right you will gain access to the main menu of the app.
From the main menu, you can search recipes with your keywords or you can search through their categories. Recipes can also be bookmarked if you make a profile. Making a profile will allow you to review other recipes as well as comment and post your own.
Once you have selected a recipe, a description of the recipe is included that mentions the prep time, ingredients, and author. The directions to cook the meal are very detailed which is a nice touch. Features also include recipe planning, adding ingredients you are missing to a cart, and checking out the nutrition facts on the meal you are going to create. The app is very simple to use while being fast and helpful.
Conclusion: Search Recipe Wins!
Both of these apps were very similar to each other and both would be a good choice if you are looking for a recipe app.The interface and experience with the Search Recipe app was just a bit better. I would highly suggest you download each one of these and go make some good food.
